Invader Zim is a darkly comedic animated franchise following an inept, overzealous extraterrestrial named Zim from the planet Irk who is sent on a fake "secret mission" to conquer a satirical, dystopian Earth. Disguised as a human schoolchild and accompanied by his hyperactive, malfunctioning robot sidekick, GIR, Zim constantly hatches absurd, chaotic schemes that are continually thwarted by Dib Membrane, a young, obsessed paranormal investigator and the only human who recognizes Zim as an alien. While the original cult-classic television series highlights their endless, small-scale schoolyard battles against the backdrop of a clueless and apathetic human society, the narrative officially culminates in the 2019 continuation movie, Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus. In the film, a sudden realization that his alien leaders never actually intended to come to Earth triggers a localized existential crisis for Zim. He responds by launching a catastrophic "Phase Two" plan that teleports Earth directly into the path of the Irken Armada, accidentally opening a reality-threatening spacetime rift called a "Florpus" that forces a desperate Dib to save the planet from total destruction.
