Hocus Pocus 2, Wendell & Wild, and Hubie Halloween are all modern supernatural comedy films centered around high-stakes Halloween chaos in small-town settings. In Hocus Pocus 2, a pair of modern Salem teenagers accidentally resurrect the vengeful, comedic 17th-century Sanderson sisters, forcing the youth to find a way to stop the witches' quest for total immortality. Wendell & Wild takes a darker, stop-motion approach as a troubled teenage girl strikes a bargain to summon two scheming demon brothers from the Underworld in exchange for reviving her deceased parents, only to uncover a sinister corporate plot threatening her hometown. Meanwhile, Hubie Halloween leans into goofy slapstick mystery, following a mocked but well-meaning community volunteer who must save Salem from very real disappearances on Halloween night despite nobody believing him.
